Brabham BT21 - Castle Combe Autumn Classic-A wet but wonderful weekend of racing

Welcome to the Castle Combe Autumn classic. this was the penultimate classic formula 3 championship race meeting https://www.onelitref3.uk/ I hadn't been to this circuit for quite a few years so I was just relying on watching a few Youtube videos to remind me of where the circuit went. Saturday morning we woke to a lot of rain and so I set about changing the car to a wet setup, I had a new set of wet Avon tyres which I bought at the beginning of last season . this was to be my first time driving the car on wet weather tyre and after a few exploratory laps I found that despite others having a few slippery moments I actually had quite a bit of grip. you can imagine my surprise when I found myself finishing my qualifying session in 9th position with a few of the normally faster drivers behind me. The rain stopped during the day and so the race was back to a dry setup and normal race tyres. My start was the worst I had ever made in this car and I lost 3 places after the lights went out but I slowly managed to find some lap times and finished the race in 10th position. Sunday morning again was very wet but it had stopped raining by the time we started our second race, the track however was starting to dry on the racing line but was very wet off of it. it was a mixed grid with half being on a dry tyres and the others including myself on wet tyres. It started raining 5 minutes into the race and I knew I was on the right tyre. I managed to pick up some pace and pass a few car and finished in 9th position. All in all a thoroughly wonderful weekend of racing!
