The history of Scotland and England is among the oldest and most complex rivalries in Europe. Since the Middle Ages, the two kingdoms have maintained a relationship marked by territorial conflicts, cultural differences, and political ambitions. While England sought to consolidate its power in the British Isles, Scotland fought to preserve its independence and its social and monarchical structures.
