Copland 'Fanfare for the Common Man' - Andrew Davis conducts
Aaron Copland's 'Fanfare for the Common Man' was one of a series of fanfares requested from various American composers by conductor Eugene Goossens. These were to be played at the start of each concert during the Cincinnati Orchestra's 1942-43 season and it is Copland's offering that has retained a regular place in the the repertoire. The performance seen here opened the 2000 Proms Season In London's Royal Albert Hall with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Sir Andrew Davis's direction. It is being published here on 14 July 2017 to mark the first night of the Proms 2017.
