Pakistan: Keine Gnade für Afghanen | ARTE Reportage

On November 1, Pakistani authorities launched a large-scale deportation operation targeting undocumented Afghans. That day marked the end of the deadline set for Pakistan's largest group of migrants to leave the country voluntarily. More than two million Afghans are believed to be living without papers in the "Land of the Pure." At least 600,000 of them left Afghanistan after the Taliban seized power in August 2021, while over 345,000 have either voluntarily returned or been deported since the beginning of November. For over 40 years, Pakistan has welcomed Afghans, long considered a safe haven during Afghanistan's turbulent times. However, right in the midst of heightened tensions with the Taliban regime, Pakistan began the mass deportation of Afghan refugees. The raids begin before sunrise and last until late at night, occasionally accompanied by violence and theft, perpetrated by unscrupulous and corrupt police officers who exploit the plight of refugees without valid documents. Repeated appeals from the United Nations to suspend the forced deportations of Afghans have gone unheeded to this day. #pakistan #afganistan #reportage Video available on YouTube until November 27, 2026 Subscribe to ARTE's YouTube channel:    / artede   Follow us on social media: Facebook:   / arte.tv   Twitter:   / artede   Instagram:   / arte.tv
