Every Muslim certainly desires a home filled with sakinah, mawaddah, wa rahmah, so that it becomes the path to the Paradise of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. In this study, we are invited to understand that a house like heaven is not a magnificent house or full of luxury, but a house built on the foundation of monotheism, worship, noble character, love, and obedience to Allah and His Messenger. Through the arguments of the Qur'an and the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, we are invited to make the family a field of charity towards happiness in this world and the hereafter. 1. Heaven in the House is Built with Piety, Not Luxury Many people think that family happiness is determined by the size of the house, the amount of property, or the luxury of facilities. In fact, Islam teaches that peace of mind only comes from remembering God. The Prophet's house is the best example. Physically very simple, but filled with blessings, love, and peace. This shows that domestic happiness is not measured by material things, but by piety to God. Allah also says: Surah An-Nahl Verse 97 "Whoever does good deeds, whether male or female in a state of faith, then We will surely give him a good life." A good life (hayat thayyibah) is the atmosphere of "heaven" in the home of a believer. 2. Family Is The Way To Heaven God made family members a trust as well as a field of reward for every Muslim. The Prophet said: "The best of you are the best to your family, and I am the best to my family." (HR. Tirmidhi) The husband should treat his wife with love, while the wife tries to obey her husband in good things. 3. Imitating the Prophet's Household Life Rasulullah is the best example in building a family. Aisha, may God be pleased with her, was once asked about the Prophet's habits at home, she replied: "He helps his family with their work. When prayer time arrives, he goes out to pray." (HR. Bukhari) The Prophet also always spoke softly, lovingly, and respecting his wives. In addition to good morals, he enlivens the house with worship. The Prophet said: "Do not make your houses like graves. Verily the devil flees from a house where Surah Al-Baqarah is recited." (HR. Muslim) A house filled with prayer, recitation of the Qur'an, prayer, and remembrance will be filled with blessings and kept away from satanic interference. 4. Restrain Anger and Promote Noble Morals One of the causes of the breakdown of family harmony is uncontrolled emotions. The Prophet said: "A strong man is not one who is good at wrestling, but one who can control himself when angry." (HR. Bukhari and Muslim) A home full of soft words, mutual forgiveness, and prioritizing deliberation will bring peace to all family members. 5. Educating righteous children is an investment in the Hereafter Children are a trust from God as well as an unbroken reward investment. The Messenger of Allah said: "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for him." (HR. Muslim) The prayers of a righteous child will continue to flow as a reward for both parents even after they have passed away.
