Love Through a Prism and the Search for Self

Love Through a Prism completely surprised me. What starts off looking like a soft, familiar romance about young artists slowly reveals itself to be about something much deeper: identity, passion, comparison, buried dreams, and the painful process of figuring out what is actually yours. In this video, I talk about why this anime hit me so hard, how it uses art as a way to explore selfhood, and why I don’t think this is just a simple romance or even just a standard coming-of-age story. For me, Love Through a Prism becomes a story about what it means to lose touch with the part of yourself that once loved creating… and what it means to find that part of yourself again. If you watched this anime and it stayed with you too, I’d love to hear what part hit you the hardest.
