Jacob was NOT being punished| Bishop Anibok Hawkson

Many people believe Jacob suffered under Laban because he cheated Esau, but this story reveals something deeper — the power of covenant and God’s favour. In Genesis 28, Jacob entered into a covenant with God, and from that moment, God turned every attempt of Laban to cheat him into blessings. Even the deception involving Leah became part of God’s divine plan, leading to the birth of the 12 tribes of Israel, including Levi the priestly tribe and Judah, the lineage through which Jesus Christ came. Jacob’s story in Genesis 30 also points prophetically to Jesus Christ. Just as the plain animals became striped and changed in nature, Jesus took our sin upon Himself and gave us His righteousness through the cross. What looked hopeless after Adam’s fall was restored through Christ’s sacrifice. Hebrews 12:2 reminds us to keep our eyes on Jesus. As we look to Him in faith, transformation takes place in our lives. The covenant sealed by the blood of Jesus is greater than every attack of the enemy. The same God who turned Laban’s plans into blessings for Jacob can also turn every scheme of the devil into victory for you.
