Toward an Interpersonal Neurobiology of the Developing Mind
Will a better understanding of the human brain enable engineers to build better interfaces and operating systems? Dan Siegel will discuss neurobiology and its implications for computing. He will introduce the study of the brain as a system. Siegel has reviewed a number of scientific disciplines that explore the idea of the mind developing at the interface between human relationships and the unfolding structure and function of the brain. Recent discoveries from a number of independent fields, including those of developmental psychology and cognitive neuroscience, can be synthesized into an integrated framework for understanding how the brain gives rise to mental processes and is directly shaped by interpersonal experiences.
