But why pray if God already knows everything? Why ask if the Lord's will is always fulfilled? And why does it so often seem that our prayers go unanswered? In this profound and demanding catechesis, in the light of Sacred Scripture, the Fathers of the Church, and doctors such as Saint Thomas Aquinas, Saint Alphonsus Liguori, Saint John Chrysostom, and Saint Augustine, we are led to understand the relationship between persevering prayer and divine providence. Starting from the parable of the persistent widow, the Church's teaching shows that God governs all things, but He wished to involve free creatures in the fulfillment of His will. Prayer is not a confrontation with God, but a real participation in the divine plan, willed by Him from all eternity. In this reflection, you will understand: why prayer is not useless, even when there seems to be no answer the difference between foreknowledge and predestination why there is no predestination to hell how God acts through immediate and mediate providence whether God hears the prayer of a sinner in mortal sin when a prayer is not answered with mercy the danger of asking for goods that hinder conversion why certain sufferings can be disguised graces how to ask correctly: “Yet not my will, but yours be done” the difference between forgiving and reconciling why the greatest good to ask for is always the salvation of the soul With concrete examples, biblical quotes, and solid teaching, this catechesis helps purify our prayer, freeing us from spiritual opportunism and leading us to true filial trust. 👉 If you have ever thought: “I have prayed a lot and God has not heard me,” this content is for you. 📖 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” (Matthew 7:7) 00:00 – Pray always without giving up: the teaching of Jesus Introduction to the parable of the persistent widow (Luke 18) and Christ's call to perseverance in prayer. 02:20 – If God already knows everything, why ask? The classic objection: God's omniscience and the meaning of human prayer. 05:40 – God's will and the Lord's Prayer “Thy will be done”: how to understand our request in light of the divine plan. 09:00 – Divine providence and the cooperation of creatures How God governs everything without negating human freedom. 13:00 – Predestination, foreknowledge, and human freedom There is no predestination to hell: the true teaching of the Church. 17:00 – God acts without mediation and with mediation Immediate and mediate providence according to Saint Thomas Aquinas. 20:30 – Prayer participates in God's eternal plan Why prayer changes history without changing God. 24:30 – Saint Thérèse and the power of persevering prayer The case of the condemned man and the conversion obtained through intercession. 27:30 – Does God hear the sinner's prayer? What Saint Alphonsus, Saint Thomas Aquinas, and Saint John Chrysostom say. 31:30 – When prayer is not answered with mercy Asking for something that feeds sin: when God says "no" out of love. 36:00 – Asking for temporal goods: when "no" is a grace Concrete examples: health, success, money, and pride. 40:30 – Martha and Mary: the only thing necessary Discerning what passes and what remains in the light of eternity. 44:30 – How to ask correctly: Jesus' criterion “Yet not my will, but yours be done.” 47:30 – Forgiveness, reconciliation, and spiritual prudence Always forgive, reconcile only when there is repentance. 51:00 – Ask, seek, knock: Christ's promise God doesn't promise when or how, but guarantees that the door will open. 53:30 – Conclusion: persevering in prayer with filial confidence God always grants what is best for the salvation of the soul.
