Pedagogy studies education; it focuses on the areas where people are subject to integral development, therefore; It seeks to improve education. Pedagogy is aware that people undergo educational development (both intentional and unintentional) throughout their lives. Therefore, by drawing on other sciences such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, or economics, it can make decisions that improve education based on social needs. Pedagogues can work in different fields; the most popular is teaching, but also research, tutoring and educational guidance, curriculum design, training, among other areas. However, in very general terms, pedagogues analyze learning processes in school and non-school settings and then propose improvement actions to achieve a more complete development of the individual. In turn, they implement teaching methods, techniques, and strategies based on the needs of students and their different educational contexts. Furthermore, they reflect on education, its purposes, its impact on society, how it has changed in relation to needs, and more. To further understand what this science studies, we must know what an educator does in each of its areas in order to understand what knowledge or skills they need. Didactics The didactic aspect seeks to improve teaching and then improve learning. Here, pedagogy studies the different ways of acquiring knowledge, the needs of each student, what learning barriers may arise, psychological development in relation to the proposed content, support materials that can be used, teacher training processes, teaching strategies and techniques, didactic planning, and other aspects that seek to improve teaching and then improve learning. Philosophy of Education Regarding the philosophy of education, a series of questions must be asked about educational practice: why educate, how to do it, who it is directed to, what for, and so on. This allows for sound decisions to be made. Educational Administration and Management Its objective is to ensure the proper functioning of an educational institution. It encompasses infrastructure, administrative aspects, resource management, improvement projects, problem-solving, procedures, and other actions that enable its operation. Curriculum Design This area is one of the most versatile, since when planning an educational process, it can be implemented in contexts where there are two parties (one that teaches and the other that learns), for example, in a classroom, in hospital pedagogy, in a course, in training, in online education, etc. Business The training, instruction, and human resources aspects also relate to a didactic process, which is supported by curriculum design or philosophy. Although it is not a school context, it is an educational activity, concerned with the development of others and is subject to a process previously designed based on their needs. Special Education Special education is another area of pedagogy that focuses on serving students with disabilities who are less likely to learn, students with disabilities, and who, with the help of teaching, curriculum design, and educational psychology, can ensure a quality education. In general terms, pedagogy encompasses the knowledge applied to educational planning, guidance, tutoring, curriculum and program design, teacher training, administration, cultural dissemination, didactics, design and development of materials, research, and everything related to human development from an educational perspective.
