Streaming works great for a lot of people, and I still use it too. But if you already collect physical media, want to start a home movie server, or are just looking for a smarter way to grow a movie library without spending a fortune, this video is for you. I recently bought 54 used Blu-ray movies for $106 total through Reddit’s Media Swap subreddit community, which works out to about $2 per movie. In this video, I explain why I decided to try buying Blu-rays in bulk from other collectors on Reddit instead of thrift stores or buying new, where prices can add up fast and disc quality can be very hit or miss. The first part of the video breaks down the mindset behind collecting on a budget and why Reddit is an option many movie collectors do not even know exists. The second half is a full unboxing where we go through every movie we received so you can see exactly what showed up and the overall condition and ultimately can tell me if my selection was a good deal or not! This video is not about convincing anyone to quit streaming. It is about sharing another option for people who already enjoy physical media, are running something like Jellyfin or Plex, or want to build a home movie library without overpaying. At $2 each, this sounds almost too good to be true, so in a future video I will follow up and let you know how these discs hold up over time, including ripping and playback. Cheap Blu-rays are only a good deal if they actually work.
