Welcome back to Season 2 of Diesel: Behind the Denim, our mini docuseries devoted to uncovering the creativity, craft and commitment that is guiding us towards a circular future.. In Episode 7, Don’t Fall Apart, our fearless host Lea Ogunlami joins OTB Sustainability Ambassador Andrea Rosso in the Diesel Lab to get an education in denim quality control. The Diesel Lab is stocked with state-of-the-art equipment to ensure that each pair of Diesel jeans can withstand a lifetime of wear and tear. A spectrophotometer is used to crosscheck the color of each swatch against the standard color sample to guarantee uniformity, while a dynamometer tests fabric strength and elasticity. Then there are Diesel’s definitive construction techniques for denim resistance: triple stitched seams, pockets reinforced with super strong shoe thread, double belt loops and a lined waistband are all key to holding each silhouette’s shape and preventing rips in the wrong place.
