Andrew Carnegie Lecture Series – James Elkins
The inaugural lecture in the series was given by leading art historian, Professor James Elkins, E. C. Chadbourne Professor of Art History, Theory, and Criticism at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, on Thursday 16th January 2014 in The Playfair Library. In his lecture, entitled Limits of the Discussion of Writing in Art History, Elkins drew from his book of the same name, focusing on photography’s limitations and agendas. While at ECA, Elkins was interviewed by Chancellor’s Fellow and Art Writer, Maria Fusco.
