Summer Steelhead Fly Fishing Video Footage of a day in September 2026. On this occasion there was rain and cooler weather with lots of summer steelhead passing over the dam. The weather started out overcast with some light showers of rain. Then it became super windy and sunny. Occasionally the wind was totally cranking! Spey casting was a little tough to get that downstream angle with the heavy winds, but the fish were so grabby that you would feel big tugs while the line was dead drifting into the swing position. You got to love when the fish are that aggressive! The spots shown in the footage in this video are typically extremely crowded, but on this day everyone left the area, and I had the whole beat of river to myself. Every once in a while, you score a good session like this. On the second morning by the time the sun was over the entire river, the place became super crowded, and I was out of there! I counted about 20 bikes when I was leaving, and the day before I was the only person from about noon on. Music from bensound credited on lower right for each new piece played
