Building a Lightly Modified Traxxas TRX 2.5R

Impressions of this particular engine / setup after 1.25 gallons ran thru since build. 5/28/2026 Paired with THS 1045 downward facing pipe. Lc4 plug, 31.25% nitro, 12.5% oil (200cc KL-198, 36.5cc Benol), stock head shim. 1. Extremely responsive little 2.5 even under a full weight t-maxx. Easy wheelies and revs out with ease in the grass. 2. Idles smooth, when it comes down to base idle. 3. It does seem to have a slight 2 stage idle that I cannot tune out. (Suspect this is because of the fang cut in the crank) It is manageable, and not obnoxious. More of an issue below half tank, when the motor is above 280f. Just not perfect, like a stock motor. 4. Power - it is impressive, the overall power curve is improved. 5. Fuel milage - I am able to get 12-13 minutes a tank. 6. Temp - Motor makes peak power in the 280-300 range. 260-280 is a chill area to still pull 2nd and be fun. But, I run this for power so I run this at 280-290 range. Similar to where the 3.3 likes to be. Idle drops down immediate after throttle closes. 7. Wheelies - No Issues with stock clutch and gearing. Compared to a stock worn 3.3? It lacks the low end grunt, but top end is similar, and all jumps can be cleared just as far as the 3.3. Truck is much easier to manage with the power delivery of the 2.5.
