Ukrainian marines are using an uncrewed surface platform known as “Barracuda” to deploy FPV strike drones and bomber drones against Russian positions in the Dnipro River delta. The 40th Separate Marine Brigade published footage showing the system in operation in the island zone of the Dnipro River. The platform allows operators to transport drones closer to Russian positions by water before launching them against designated targets. The brigade said the system has recently been used in a series of operations targeting Russian military infrastructure in the area. Strikes conducted from the platform hit observation posts, ammunition storage sites, and logistical facilities used by Russian forces. The “Barracuda” functions as a mobile uncrewed launch platform capable of carrying drones into the operational area and deploying FPV drones and bomber drones against targets located on islands and along the riverbanks. The platform can also carry its own payload. The Dnipro River delta and nearby island areas remain a contested zone where both Ukrainian and Russian forces rely heavily on drones for reconnaissance and strike missions. Waterborne uncrewed systems have increasingly been integrated into Ukrainian operations to support attacks in areas where movement by conventional vehicles or personnel is difficult. Russian forces cannot advance in the Dnipro River delta in the Kherson region. The reason is a critical shortage of boats, according to the Atesh partisan movement on Telegram. An agent of this movement, who is part of the units of the 70th Motor Rifle Division of the 18th Combined Arms Army, spoke about the growing crisis with watercraft among the Russian forces. According to him, there are almost no speedboats left on the islands of the Dnipro delta near Kherson, as Ukrainian drones are regularly taking them out one by one. At the same time, there is no replenishment of boats. "The command pretends that everything is under control. In reality, there are almost no boats left; every trip on the water is now a lottery," the source reported. As Atesh explains, the islands are cut off. Thus, moving personnel and ammunition through the straits has become a daily risk without a safety net — there is no cover, no reserve. "Rotation is stalling, supplies are falling apart. Those stuck in positions wait for relief for weeks. Some of the surviving boats are breaking down for reasons the command prefers not to publicize — they write it off as wear and tear and poor maintenance," the post states. Summing up, the partisan movement added that more information has been passed to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. According to the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pivnenko, Russia will be able to maintain the current intensity of the war for at least another year or two. However, he added that its capabilities for a large-scale offensive remain limited.
