Cello Lesson - How to Improve Intonation
In this cello lesson, I go over my strategy for training your ear to hear better intonation! Through my experience, I find that droning the open strings while playing notes in first position is the best way to develop and reinforce and good intonation as well as train the necessary muscle memory for the spacing of the fingers and overall frame of your left hand. This exercise doesn't have to be limited to first position. The possibilities for droning different notes are numerous, so feel free to explore the other positions while droning an open string to hear how your intonation is relating to a constant pitch.
