This Da Vinci Hides More Than You Think

In 1474 Florence, a sixteen year old girl sat for a portrait. The artist was twenty one years old and barely known. The painting took years to complete, changed hands across centuries, survived two world wars, and ended up in Washington D.C. inside a custom suitcase designed by a luggage company. Portrait of Ginevra de' Benci — Leonardo da Vinci, c. 1474-1478 Oil on panel. 38.1 x 37 cm. National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. Her name was Ginevra de' Benci. She was a poet, an intellectual, and one of the most admired women in Renaissance Florence. There is more to this painting than what you see on the surface. A lot more. 00:00 Intro 00:59 The Girl In The Portrait 02:46 The Artist Behind It 04:04 The Story Behind The Face 04:49 What Is On The Other Side 06:33 The Detail That Changes Everything 07:34 Final Thoughts Music: Echoes by Scott Buckley https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/ License: Creative Commons — Attribution 4.0 International — CC BY 4.0 Free Download / Stream: https://links.al/wUq Music promoted by Audio Library: https://links.al/youtube I Feel Alive by Alex-Productions   / alexproductionsmusic   Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0 Free Download / Stream: https://www.audiolibrary.com.co/alex-...
