Detalles Que Quizás No Sepas Sobre Los Locos Addams

The Addams Family delighted with their macabre humor for over 80 years. And, like any great family, they have some dark secrets. Here are some facts about everyone's favorite macabre family. Born in Westfield, New Jersey, in 1912, Charles Addams had a childhood worthy of his creation. According to the biography Charles Addams: A Cartoonist's Life, he claims his earliest memory is seeing a man run over. Nicknamed "Chilly" by his friends, at age 8, he and other children broke into a dilapidated Victorian house that was being renovated. In an act of vandalism, Addams drew skeletons on the walls. Later, Addams and his friends were taken to court for their crimes. The cartoonist would later base the Addams Family home in part on the old house that got him into trouble. According to his friend Walker McKinney, Addams was interested in "life's aberrations" and had a rare sense of humor. When a batch of live crabs was delivered for a birthday dinner, Addams gleefully suggested, "Well, we'll stab them." But when the hostess suggested a more humane alternative, he reportedly said, "Too bad." As Addams became famous for his work at The New Yorker, his reputation as an eccentric grew. He enjoyed picnicking in cemeteries and visiting snake farms. Addams also delighted in telling reporters about the gifts he received from fans, such as a gilded skull, a human thigh bone, and a frozen calf's heart in a box.
