"The Chimera Ant arc is the sixth (officially fifth) story arc of the series, officially called "Chimera Ants Arc" by Viz. The arc spans from Chapters 186 to 318 of the manga. It was not animated in the first anime adaptation (from 1999) due to the manga's irregular publishing schedule.
