Similarity in Overlapping Right Triangles

We work through 4 examples involving similarity in overlapping right triangles. Step-by-step, we identify the three similar triangles hidden within each diagram and determine their corresponding sides. From there, we set up proportions using the matching sides of the similar right triangles to solve for missing lengths. As the problems become more advanced, we combine triangle similarity with the Pythagorean Theorem to find additional missing sides. Along the way, we practice working with square roots and simplifying radicals.
