symfonikev: Pollution Man in 8-bit

Original video:    • Video   _____________________________________ 🌪🌪🌪 TRANSCRIPTION NOTES 🌪🌪🌪 Like with the Rain Man theme, Pollution Man is another stage theme that doesn't follow the conventional numbered format, so I hadn't discovered this one until after I had already listened to all of the other stage themes. It's a good one, and especially unique given the tone it sets in the beginning with the dissonance and the triangle lead. The high-vibrato countermelody also matches Kevin's style during these earlier tracks. Some of the pitch bends towards the end I paid a lot of attention to detail to, and I used the MMC5 chip to ensure I could capture the echo that adds that extra bit of atmosphere to the track. I set up the 0CC file so that the expansion tracks can be muted if you wanted to hear what it sounds like under typical limitations. According to Kevin's original video, there was another version of this theme as a download, but it appears to have been removed by the site. If someone has this version of the theme, I'd love for it to be shared here so it can be preserved and so I transcribe it as well! _____________________________________ 🌪🌪🌪 PROJECT GOAL 🌪🌪🌪 The intent of this project is to transcribe into Famitracker all of symfonikev's Mega Man-style original tracks that use the lower quality NES soundfont. The reasons for this are... 1) To have the same great tracks, but to be able to enjoy them at the highest possible instrument quality. 2) To preserve them in a convenient and accessible format to allow others to export or reference them as desired. (This means that I encourage you to download and transcribe from my source file for your own arrangements!) As a consequence of these goals, this means that each transcription will take as few creative liberties as possible. This means no changes in the pulse, triangle, or noise channels unless completely necessary given the restrictions of Famitracker. This also means that any extra channels that Kevin utilizes will also be replicated to the greatest extent possible, such as by utilizing the MMC5 pulse waves when more than two are playing at once. I greatly appreciate all of Kevin's work, and his Mega Man-style tracks epitomize what I admire about music done within the NES's limitations. This project basically serves as my love letter to Kevin for elevating so many years of my life with his humble YouTube releases. Thank you, Kevin, for all of the wonderful music you put out!
