And that’s a good thing because a woman who loves and fears the Lord is a treasure. Sometimes, I brag to people how easy it is to love you and live with you. Ang sarap mo maging asawa. Hindi ako nagsasawa. Ang dali mo talagang mahalin, Kahit minsan na mey toyo ka, at galit ka sa akin. Ang dali mo kasi mag-forgive, wala kang kinikimkim. Hindi ka lang maganda sa loob at labas, Pero parang ka si Queen Esther, sa mga hamon ng kaaway; Hindi ka umaatras. Miriam, my love Because of you, I know God is real and loves me. And because of you, I know that the devil is real too and hates us. Oo, Kasi lagi tayong tinatarget ng kaaway na sirain ang ating samahan. Pero, sabi ng Bible diba, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” ….. So Babe, thank you. These past 10 years with you have been an amazing journey. And it’s a journey that began with the healing of a broken heart. I was a widower. I needed God to give me a heart transplant to replace my shattered heart. And at that friendly lunch that we had, moved by the Spirit, we prayed for each other. I prayed that God would match you with a Godly man and that He move that man to court you right away so that you could start your new family life. I honestly thought to myself, whomever that man is, will surely be blessed. Then you prayed that God would give me new heart so that I could love again, ASAP! A month later, at my surprise birthday party, Josh blew the candles of my cake and told me: “Dad, I wished that Mama is happy in Heaven… AND I also prayed that God would give you a new wife so that I can have a new mom…” And lo and behold, the God of the Universe, gave Josh and I, our Ms Universe. Who would have even guessed that we would all be answered prayers to each other? Praise God! God is indeed a promise keeping God. His ways of keeping His 8,810 promises in the Bible may not be our ways, but He still keeps it. I love it that our anniversary celebration falls on a Palm Sunday. May our marriage be like branches of a Palm tree, shouting out: “Hosanna!” Celebrating God’s promise that whomever believes in Jesus Christ will have eternal life. Romans 10 promises that “if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” When God recommended you to me, He promised that our partnership, our marriage, would be generational. That His purpose for you and me would go beyond our happiness. And in these past 10 years, I’ve seen his purpose unfold in our marriage. Miriam, my love, I am so thankful to God for our partnership. I love your passion for sharing the gospel with me everywhere we go. I am thankful for the many ministry trips and talks we had with Josh all over the Philippines and the world. From the lakes of Michigan, to the sand dunes of Qatar, to the streets of Taiwan and Korea. I praise God how He’s continued to use your beauty queen title from 25 years ago to draw people to you and to Christ. Minsan sa CR ng Rockwell mall, I remember, you took 15 minutes to get out. Akala ko nag number 2 ka. You went out all smiling and it turns out, you met someone who wanted a picture with you and you cared enough to talk to her after and you ended up praying for her. You’ve carried this love for others even as we moved to Boracay 2 years ago, starting a women’s bible study group which was the catalyst for CCF Boracay. But what I truly cherish with you are our miracle boys. First, Josh who made you an instant Mommy; then came Elijah and during the pandemic, Ziki. God’s goodness shouts out to us through them. Sometimes literally. I still shake my head in disbelief – here I am–a 58 yr old Dad of a 2 yr old, 5 yr old and a 16 yr old. Buti na lang, you’re here by my side as their mother. The best mom they could have. And I cherish the making of our children with you and the many honeymoons we’ve had. You’re the most amazing lover in the entire universe. So, now may I end by renewing the vows that I made 10 years ago to you-and add a few more? Miriam, I promise to continue to be your #foreverhoneymooner partner. To love and cherish you–and court and date you I promise to listen to God, obey Him and lead you and our family to walk in God’s ways I promise to love God with all heart, soul and mind–so that I can love you with all my heart, soul and mind. I promise to stand in the gap for you, to pray, protect and provide for you and our family I promise to be the best father to our boys, to parent them with gentleness, kindness and patience. So help me God! I promise to take care of myself and be healthy and hot for you… so that whenever you need my body, no matter how tired or long my day was, I’ll ALWAYS be ready to serve you.
