1974 Norton Commando 850 MK2A – Isolasticity (part 1)

Please see below for the latest updates: Here are a few clips of the Commando after a few rides and noticing a distinct "hard" vibration occurring at around 3,000 RPM. It's possible to ride through the vibration, but it seems more noticeable than it was before I fixed the swing arm. Maybe tightening up the swing arm has accentuated the vibration more than before?! Anyway, I suspect that the front rubber "Isolastic" engine mount in the cause of the issue. Edit: Yep, it was definitely the FRONT & REAR isolastics (or lack of!) that were causing the vibration. My friend Geoff and I spent some time checking and re-shimming and it is significantly better, although still needs some fine-tuning. What we suspect happened is that the previous owner had loosened off all the nuts on the main isolastic bolts, to over-compensate for incorrect shimming. The shims were actually too thick and so were pushing the collar beyond the spacer that allows the shims to move. And therefore, when I torqued down all the nuts after the swing-arm rebuild, I was locking the whole isolastics up! Geoff and I removed a fairly thick shim from front and the rear unit, re-measured and it is miles better. But we didn't have any spare shims of the correct thickness so I need to finish that. I will post a video of the job. With Geoff's help and advice, it was actually much easier than I expected!
