It’s a brand new event - TexStyle at Manchester Central - a textile show for the north west

It’s always a bit of a risk taking part in a new event, and this one was organised by a mother and daughter team who normally do knitting and wool shows but wanted to branch out to do more textiles. It took me ages to decide if I’d book it, and eventually I decided to go for it! I’m so glad I did!It was really great to experience a bit of city life after so long living at the seaside. I last visited Manchester as a teenager and I couldn’t believe how huge it had grown and how modern - I loved the trams, I was like a little kid on those! I only knew one of the other traders at this show which is unusual for me as I know most at my quilt shows, but Mr Oakapple and my son joined me and it was nice to have help packing up and negotiating the city centre driving. This show didn’t have as many sewing stalls as wool stalls, but I think that will change next year. It did clash with a big sewing show at the NEC in Birmingham.
