In this video, you'll learn how the RS485 protocol works with Arduino, using a master-slave communication model to control multiple devices with just two communication lines: A and B. First, we'll review the main concepts of the RS485 protocol, such as long-distance communication, the use of multiple devices on the same bus, the importance of working at the same transmission speed, and how a master device sends data frames to different slaves. Then, we'll apply these concepts in a practical exercise with Arduino modules and serial-to-RS485 converters, where LEDs are controlled by commands sent from a computer or another Arduino configured as the master. Although this example uses LEDs, the same principle can be applied to controlling relays, actuators, fans, sensors, industrial modules, or other compatible devices.
