TANGENTIAL VELOCITY. In curvilinear motion, and particularly in circular motion, tangential velocity is the velocity along the tangent to the trajectory at a point. For those studying circular motion, tangential velocity is always present and should not be confused with another velocity called angular velocity. The two velocities are related but refer to different concepts.
