Patsy, Donna, & Roni Stoneman with Tom Mindte- Barney McCoy

2009 Richmond, Indiana I was very fortunate to be taken on by the Stoneman sisters for several shows between 2009 and 2013 as their guitar player. This is from our first show together in 2009 at the induction of Hattie and Ernest Stoneman into the Gennett Walk of Fame in Richmond, Indiana. From the start, I told Patsy that I only play rhythm guitar, no breaks. This was our first song and, as you can see, she gave me a break that I wasn’t expecting. After the show, she said “We always do that to the new guy, now you’re an honorary Stoneman.” I loved recording and playing with them. Donna, the only surviving Stoneman sibling, recently celebrated her 91st birthday. By the way, the reason this song is so long is that the promoter told her that we were to perform only two songs, so she stretched both of them out to five or six minutes!
