How do you create a Legacy? Galatone, Palazzo Zuccala, by Davide Mengoli

What’s your definition of ‘’Legacy’’? Mine is the possibility of creating a bridge between time and generations. Architecture over the years has giving me the possibility to develop this inner talent. Some people may think that it is only a building project or a refurbishment, others may believe that the property belongs to them; not me. Buildings have housed people, dreams and aspirations, they have listened and watched all the different stages of their lives and will continue to do that through the many transformations. My responsibility is to keep the essence of all the different stages and moments that the building has gone through and build a bridge or Legacy that will catapult the space into today’s world. The building that I mention in this video at 43 Denmark Hill, London, was built to be a bakery and then became an art shop and with me an art gallery. In the refurbishment process, which until now it’s still my biggest challenge, I brought back to life all the elements connecting the different stages of the people that inhabited this building. With this series, I would like to bring to you, my most inner vision and emotions and how I create possibilities.
