But she was more than what we remember with her songs and acting. This is the story of a special woman who made quite a name for herself at one time, managed to become one of the special names in casinos with her voice, and made such beautiful songs that it made one think she had a strangely good side at that time... (from the film - Ah Nerede) Nilgün Atılgan, known in cinema as Nilgün Atılgan, was born in Istanbul on October 7, 1956. She spent her primary school years in Istanbul. At just six years old, she made her stage debut with a performance in Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer in the children's section of the City Theatre. She later studied ballet at the Ankara State Conservatory. Following her ballet training, she was accepted into the theatre department at Eskişehir Anadolu University and graduated with distinction. Nilgün Atılgan distinguished herself with both her vocal talent and theatrical talent during her school years. In 1972, she won first place in two competitions run by two different newspapers. Atılgan, who attracted attention with these first-place wins, began acting in photo novels. Around this time, she changed her full name from Ayşe Nilgün Atılgan to Nilgün Atılgan, and preferred to be known as such. In 1972, she made her big screen debut as Meral in the film "Asi Gençler" (Rebellious Young People). A year later, she appeared in "Yasa Bir Demekşe" (A Dessert of Menekşe) and "Pir Sultan Abdal." The film that brought her wider recognition, "Ah Nerede" (Where is Ah?), appeared in 1975. She also appeared in notable productions such as "Güliniz Güldürın" (You Are a Rose) and "Dost Bilimim" (My Friends I Know). Nilgün Atılgan was also deeply involved in filmmaking and music. She released her first single, "Aşkıma İnan / This Sevgi Başka Sevgi" (This Love Is Another Love), in 1973. Despite this being her first record release, Hey magazine, one of the most popular magazines of the time, wrote of her: "Nigün Atılgan is a relaxed and confident singer. She will undoubtedly bring a touch of color to Turkish music. Both her physique and her voice will make significant strides." That same year, Hey magazine readers voted her the most promising singer of the year. In 1974, her single "Çek Kayıkçı - Nerede Çıkın Karşıma" (Where Did You Come From?), which would top the charts, appeared. The song "Çek Kayıkçı" (Check Kayıkçı), on the front cover of the record, became one of the most beloved songs of the era and carries her name to this day. Lyricist Fecri Ebcioğlu and composer Selmi Andak also played a significant role in this song's success. That same year, she released "Oldi Mu - Aşk Çul Değil - Aşk Çul Değil - Eskimez" (Love Doesn't Age). In 1975, "Sor Ne O" (Does He Love or Not) and "Canın If You Want It" (Slander) appeared in 1976. Nilgün Atılgan, who also made headlines with her love life during her time in the spotlight, became engaged to 40-year-old casino king Fahrettin Aslan in 1975 at the age of 19. However, this engagement ended before it could become a marriage. Following this romance, she married the veteran actor of the time, Öztürk Serengil. This marriage didn't turn out as she had hoped, and they soon divorced. The reason for the separation was reported in the newspapers of the time as follows: The hero behind the Nilgün Atılgan Öztürk-Serengil separation, which recently became the main topic in Mahazın magazines, was recognized by almost everyone. Reportedly, the real reason for this separation was Seren Serengil. Seren's love, Seren's desires, and Seren's decision led Öztürk back to his wife of 11 years, Nevin. Nilgün Atılgan found the love of her life in later years. They embarked on a lifelong romance with Cengiz Tabakçı, the owner of Grand Restaurants, and had two children from this marriage. (song) Nigün Atılgan took a break from the silver screen due to the crisis in cinema. At that time, she transferred to nightclubs, lured by her name, and began performing as a headliner. However, after marrying and having children, she abandoned the nightclub scene, opting for a quieter life. Although her face and voice remain in our memories, she abandoned cinema and music. Her years-long silence was broken by the tragic news of December 12, 2012. The master artist went to Antalya to visit her uncle.
