Im Land unter dem Meer, Den Haag, Rhein, Rotterdam

Katwijk, March 31, 2026: First observation of the day: it's milder this morning, already 6 degrees Celsius at 10 a.m. So the tour starts at that time because I hadn't set my alarm. What follows is such a beautiful stretch through the dunes! I would have loved to let the camera run continuously for 45 minutes. Then at some point, I leave the dunes because I really wanted to see The Hague. Without my zigzagging, the route to Hoek van Holland would definitely have been 15 km shorter. I find the Royal Palace, the German Embassy, but somehow miss the International Court of Justice. What a shame. Afterwards, it's back onto that fabulous path behind the dike! I absolutely have to ride it at least once more in my life, it's so beautiful. Around 2 p.m., I reach Hoek van Holland. A long break with coffee, fries, and a frikandel. Then, at some point, I reach Hoek van Holland. Then I'll set off on the route known in Germany as the #RhineCycleRoute, which, by the way, is signposted as the #MaasFietsRoute all the way to Rotterdam. #rotterdam is enough for me today: a short city tour, finding a hotel, and... well, the rest isn't really part of the tour schedule.
