COBR is dedicated to increasing community access to dynamic, culturally responsive musical performances while providing local musicians with meaningful orchestral experience. COBR is open to musicians age 18 and older. Whether someone is an active player or returning to an instrument after time away, the orchestra provides a welcoming artistic outlet for adults in the Baton Rouge community. Interested musicians should visit civicorchestrabr.org to complete an interest form and check current openings. COBR is led by its Musical Director and Conductor, Dr. Brian R. Scott, and by a member-elected volunteer Council. The orchestra rehearses at the LSU School of Music and regularly presents free concerts at the Main Library at Goodwood, the River Center Branch Library, and other community spaces. As an all-volunteer, nonprofit community organization, COBR is supported primarily through the generosity of its members and the Baton Rouge community. Special thanks go to the East Baton Rouge Parish Library System for its continued support. All Civic Orchestra of Baton Rouge concerts are free and open to the public.
