How to Read and Summarize Research Papers | Machine Learning & Deep Learning
Scientific papers can be quite intimidating and hard to read, especially if you are new to a field with lots of theory like Machine Learning or Deep Learning. In this video I show you a quick way and a more detailed way to work through a computer science research paper. In the end you will be able to write a summary on the topic and accurately describe what the paper is about. I made this video because when I was starting out last year, I really struggled with finding my way through these papers and I wanted to give other new graduate students or generally interested people a few tips that would have helped me. I hope this helps :)) TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Why papers are so hard 1:11 Disclaimer 1:44 Title and Authors 2:19 Abstract 3:33 Introduction 4:21 If you understand NOTHING 5:02 Related Work 5:25 Conclusion 6:22 Looking at Details 7:59 Reflecting 8:58 What is main goal? 9:44 Creating a summary --------- Links: Paper I mentioned and showed excerpts from in this video: Asymmetric Valleys: Beyond Sharp and Flat Local Minima by He et al 2019, found here: [https://arxiv.org/pdf/1902.00744.pdf](https://arxiv.org/pdf/1902.00744.pdf) Also check out Yannic Kilcher's video about this topic, he did a whole PhD in the area of Machine Learning, so he has read many more papers than me :D • How I Read a Paper: Facebook's DETR (Video... --------- You can also find me on Instagram, where I post almost daily: / galaxyinferno.codes And on my blog: https://galaxyinferno.com/
