Sephiroth GMV | Forget

🎧 HEADPHONES RECOMMENDED 🎧 This is a personal reimaging of Sephiroth and Cloud’s relationship throughout Final Fantasy 7. Instead of pursuing Cloud for his plans for world domination, I wanted to reimagine Sephiroth reaching for Cloud through the multi-universe in a desperate attempt to reclaim himself. The line, “seven seconds till the end”, is directed at himself, rather than Cloud. This positions Sephiroth in the fork of his destiny: does he choose darkness and pain, or light and forgiveness? Would he rather see the world burn, or move mountains to right the wrongs of his past? Cloud represents a younger, more innocent version of Sephiroth, still brimming with hope and ambition to be the hero everyone needs him to be. When Sephiroth says, “take it from here”, he’s really asking Cloud to destroy the darkness that has consumed him so that he might once again be free. Sigh I’m still clinging to my Sephiroth-can-be-redeemed pipe dream, can you tell??? EDITOR’S NOTE: Oh my goodness, they finally released the first trailer for Final Fantasy 7: Revelation!!!! So much to unpack already. Sephiroth has a new English voice actor, Travis Willingham. Deeper, darker, gritter. We’ve got tons of religious symbolism around a rapture. I cannot WAIT to get my hands on new Sephiroth content to stretch out my video editing skills. (Don’t worry, I’m figuring out a way to incorporate the new Lemon Soda Commercial into my repertoire.) My apologies for the lengthy delay in uploads. This year got a little out of hand for me, and I had to hustle quite a bit this spring. My hope is to return to these GMVs on the regular again.
