Launch of the 'Protect the Pangolins' Campaign
Protecting pangolins starts with people. In Zambia, WCP is working with communities to reduce demand for pangolin products used in traditional practices. Guided by national research with The Copperbelt University and WildCRU (University of Oxford), the campaign addresses the root causes of local demand. Together with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife and traditional leaders, WCP co-created “The Chief and the Pangolin” — a community theatre play using storytelling and humour to challenge myths, highlight legal risks, and encourage reporting of wildlife crime. Reaching thousands in a trafficking hotspot, the campaign is building trust and strengthening community-led conservation. Supported by the Pangolin Crisis Fund and GIZ’s Partnership Against Wildlife Crime in Africa and Asia. #ProtectThePangolins #DemandReduction #WildlifeProtection
