Ethos, pathos, and logos in public speaking give an important introduction to Aristotle's Rhetoric that we can use to improve the persuasiveness of your presentations and public speaking. We can establish our credibility with good character, expertise, credentials, and qualifications. Ideally, the speaker is a living example of what he or she is speaking about. Pathos: Appeals to the audience's emotion. We can appeal to our audience's emotions through vivid language, metaphors, stories, and real-life examples. Logos: A sound argument supported by evidence We can build a sound argument through high-quality research of facts and statistics and maintain a tight or close relationship between our claim and the evidence we use to support that claim. In Aristotle's Rhetoric book, he discusses these three terms to describe the three primary ways or persuasive appeals or devices we can use to reach audiences and be persuasive.
