Electronic fuel injection (Brazilian Portuguese) is a fuel supply and electronic management system for an automobile engine - an internal combustion engine. Its widespread use is due to the need for the automotive industry to reduce the emission of polluting gases. This system allows for more effective control of the mixture admitted by the engine, keeping it closer to the stoichiometric mixture (air/fuel mixture). This translates into greater fuel economy since the engine always works with the appropriate mixture and also improves engine performance. The system reads various sensors located at strategic points in the engine, examines the information, and based on other information stored in its memory, sends commands to various actuators located at strategic points in the engine. This procedure is performed several times per minute based on the movements of the crankshaft.
