Sea to Sky Highway, Vancouver to Whistler - BC Highway 99 - 2024/40

In 4K 60fps, we drive along the Sea to Sky Highway from Vancouver, BC to the resort town of Whistler, around 120km north of the city, located within the stunning Coast Mountains, and home to the Whistler-Blackcomb ski resort. Vancouver and Whistler were host to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games. BC Highway 99, the Sea to Sky Highway, first opened in 1958 as the Seaview Highway, between Horseshoe Bay and Squamish alongside the Howe Sound fjord, then later extended to Alta Lake (Whistler), and then further north to Pemberton. In the 2000s, the highway saw significant upgrades to improve safety and increase capacity ahead of the Olympics, primarily between Horsehoe Bay and Squamish. Our drive to day begins just east of Vancouver proper, from the City of Surrey, then following Trans Canada Highway 1 over the Port Mann Bridge towards Vancouver, as we connect to the Sea to Sky Highway. filmed 8 May 2024 Originally, this video was completed using GoPro footage filmed on May 14, 2023, and meant to be uploaded in March 2024.
