🎸 Blues Guitar from Scratch – LIVE #11 Many guitarists end up navigating a narrow confinement of boxes, fingerings, and familiar patterns. The result is often a sense of apparent freedom that actually hides a heavy reliance on memorized patterns. In this eleventh episode of Blues Guitar from Scratch, we tackle a fundamental topic: how to learn to explore the entire fretboard freely and consciously. Starting with intervals, we'll see how to build melodic references from any string and any finger, without having to rely on pre-packaged patterns or mechanically repeated shapes. The goal isn't to memorize new fingerings, but to develop the ability to find the sounds we're looking for wherever we are on the fretboard. We'll discuss: • Intervals as the true language of music • Building melodic references from any point on the fretboard • Horizontal and vertical movement • How to break free from dependence on pentatonic boxes • The relationship between hand, ear, and musical imagination • Free exploration of the fretboard without applying formulas The fretboard isn't made up of watertight compartments. It's a single, continuous musical space that we can gradually learn to understand, developing orientation, listening, and freedom of expression.
