Opener shows a big hand with the second bid (bidding past the barrier)
There are 3 ways for an opener who opens at the 1 level to show a big hand. The first is to jump to show a big single suited hand, the 2nd is to reverse, and the 3rd is to jump shift. All three of these bidding sequences are bidding past the barrier.
