CPI falls short but pass through pressures building
April’s CPI came in softer than expected, with headline inflation easing, led by fuel and other volatile items. Pass through from higher fuel and energy costs is limited across many freight exposed components, in part reflecting policy measures. But some broader pressures are building, including in housing and select services.
