Cycling The Great Victorian Rail Trail Part 1 Victoria Australia

The Great Victorian Rail Trail follows the former rail line from Tallarook to Mansfield, in Victoria, Australia, with an additional route from Cathkin to Alexandra, spanning 14 km each way. This episode covers 56.44 km of the 120 km long trail from Tallarook to Molesworth. Episode 2 will continue the journey from Molesworth to Mansfield. Previously recognised as the longest rail trail in Australia, the Great Victorian Rail Trail offers a scenic exploration of the region by bicycle, foot, or horseback. Officially opened in 2012 under the name Goulburn River High Country Rail Trail, it was renamed The Great Victorian Rail Trail in 2013. The Burra Country crew engages in cycling and walking along rail trails, showcasing these valuable public access routes that connect towns formerly linked by rail lines. Promoting regional towns and events, they emphasize the enjoyment of such activities. During their visit, they stayed in Bonnie Doon for four nights, engaging in cycling, walking, and exploring the surrounding area. Alexandra route: On day one of this ride I did a silly thing and hurt my knee. By the end of the day it felt pretty bad. So on day 2 I decided not to do the Alexandra side trail. We will try to come back and do that in the future. We did drive to Alexandra and had coffee and cake. Its a nice size town and definately worth the visit.
