[Report] The Gwangju Military Airport is located in the Sinchon-dong area of ​​Gwangsan-gu, Jeonnam Gwangju. The government is pursuing the relocation of the military airport alongside the Gwangju Civilian Airport to resolve noise issues and promote urban development. In April, the area around Mangun-myeon, Muan-gun, was selected as a preliminary relocation candidate site. The problem is that the project is expected to be completed in 2033. Therefore, to expedite the construction of the semiconductor industrial complex, there is a possibility that sites such as the planned ammunition depot relocation site will be utilized first, prioritizing them over the military airport runway site, which is a major military facility. It is also reported that plans to temporarily relocate units or disperse their functions will be discussed.
