Karnaval Budaya Kaliwungu, Peringati Tahun Baru Islam

Thousands of residents of Kaliwungu, Kendal Regency, packed the Islamic cultural carnival route to welcome the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijri. This event not only provided entertainment for the public but also served as a means of spreading Islam through a blend of local culture and creativity. Thousands of residents lined the streets to watch the procession of participants displaying various Islamic-inspired creations. The carnival, held by the Nahdlatul Ulama Kaliwungu family and the autonomous NU body, carried the theme: "Together Serving, Empowered, Serving the Community." Approximately 500 participants from 26 groups enlivened the event. They marched from Kaliwungu Square to the NU Kaliwungu MWC building. Wrapped within the concept of a cultural carnival, participants displayed a variety of creations, from the nuances of Islamic boarding school life to the spirit of Indonesian Islam, traditional Middle Eastern clothing, to creative attributes depicting Islamic values. The Chairman of the NU Kaliwungu MWC, KH Muhammad Soleh, stated that this activity was part of the Islamic propagation program and a moment to strengthen community togetherness in welcoming the Islamic New Year. Meanwhile, Kendal Regent Hj. Dyah Kartika Permanasari expressed her appreciation for the Islamic cultural carnival. She stated that this activity embodied the community's joy in welcoming the Islamic New Year in a peaceful and enjoyable manner. The Regent hopes that activities like this can continue to provide a space for preserving local culture, enhancing community creativity, and stimulating economic potential. For residents, this carnival is an exciting moment. Besides providing entertainment, it is also seen as a creative way to convey religious messages.
