Quantum Study Reveals Time Is Something Completely Different

What we call a clock does not measure time itself, it measures change. And without comparison between interacting systems, change itself becomes meaningless. In this video, we explore how physicists built a miniature quantum universe inside a laboratory, composed of entangled spins and an oscillator, deliberately stripping away any external time reference. Observed from the outside, the entire system appeared completely frozen. Observed from within, using the spins as a relational clock, time emerged naturally as a sequence of correlated states, exactly as we experience it in everyday life. This experiment provides concrete support for the relational interpretation of time: the universe does not evolve in time. Time is simply what we call the unfolding of relations between the parts of a timeless whole.
