A 19th-century "Demidov" cake based on a recipe by Ferdinando Grandi, the iconic 19th-century Italian chef, pastry chef, and poet who made a significant contribution to the fusion of French culinary techniques and Russian aristocratic luxury. He served as the personal chef to the famous member of the Russian dynasty, Anatoly Nikolaevich Demidov (Prince of San Donato), as well as the Marquis de Monteynard.
