A paraglider pilot’s guide to thermalling Babadağ Mountain

This video is aimed at paraglider pilots visiting Ölüdeniz, Turkey to fly Babadağ mountain and who wish to explore thermic flying there. It is not a video that explains how to fly in thermic conditions but rather, gives information on possible thermic hot spots that may be encountered. The video is particularly relevant to those pilots new to Babadağ who have thermalling experience and want exploration ideas. The video follows the events of a single trip in April/May 2022 where the conditions were not initially favourable to thermic flying but improved as the trip went on. I include launching and flying sequences so that pilots have a general overview of the conditions. I also include tracklogs of some of the flights and these are important in determining where the thermal triggers may appear on the mountain. Pausing the video on these and reviewing the track will give you some idea of where those triggers often are. These hot spots will of course change with conditions but since the conditions were changeable over the period covered in the video, they still offer relevant information that may be utilised.
