News Corp Senior Writer Patrick Carlyon claims weak growth, soaring energy costs and poor policy are dragging down living standards despite Australia's natural wealth. “We consider ourselves the lucky country, but we have blown it in so many ways in recent years,” Mr Carlyon told Sky News host James Morrow. “If you don’t have growth, your standards of living are going to drop; it’s that simple. “We’ve got all this stuff in the ground that we export to the rest of the world, but we pay the highest prices in the world. “This is certainly going to come to bear politically as it goes on because it shouldn’t be happening.”
