Practicality Brown Habitats • River Ash Restoration 1080p

The River Ash Restoration Project aimed to bring the river back to life by reinstating its natural processes, reconnecting it to the floodplain, and creating a variety of wetland and riparian habitats that would support wildlife, store water, and build long-term resilience to climate change. Practicality Brown Habitats worked with Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust to deliver a comprehensive and environmentally sensitive restoration programme. The restored River Ash now stands as a flagship example of chalk stream recovery in the UK, a river brought back to life through careful planning, skilled delivery, and a shared commitment to restoring nature. This project won the UK River Restoration Centre (RRC) River Prize 2026, recognising outstanding river restoration across the UK. 🏆 Reach-scale Award The River Ash (Hertfordshire) – an inspiring project demonstrating how targeted, on-the-ground restoration can transform a degraded chalk stream into a thriving, resilient river system. #RiverRestoration #Habitats #restorationproject
