[2] The Naimisaranya temple is enshrined in the 7th–9th century Vaishnava canon, Nalayira Divya Prabandha, composed in ten hymns by Thirumangai Alvar. The temple is classified as one of the Divyadesams, one of the 108 Vishnu temples revered in the Vaishnava canon.
